Title: Elementary STEM Teacher
 
Job Summary:The Elementary STEM Teacher at Midland Christian School will integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through hands-on, project-based learning. The ideal candidate will have a love for inspiring young minds, a strong Christian faith, and a desire to cultivate curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction. This position will also include the integration of coding, robotics, and design-thinking to help students grow in innovation and critical thinking skills. This position requires a deep commitment to the Christian faith, a passion for teaching young children, and the ability to integrate faith-based principles into daily instruction.

Essential Functions
Essential functions of this position include the following.  Employees in this position perform some or all of the following functions.  Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Curriculum Development:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic STEM lessons for elementary students that align with Midland Christian School’s academic standards and biblical worldview.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers and administration to support cross-curricular integration.
  • Design and implement hands-on learning activities and experiments that promote exploration discovery, and engagement.
  1. Classroom Management:
  • Establish and maintain a positive and supportive classroom conducive to learning and spiritual growth.
  • Maintain a well-organized, engaging, and safe STEM classroom and lab environment.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies rooted in faith-based principles.
  • Foster a sense of community and belonging among students through collaborative activities and teamwork.
  1. Instruction and Assessment:
  • Introduce and teach basic coding concepts and programming skills using age-appropriate platforms.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic and spiritual growth.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  1. Spiritual Development
  • Lead daily prayer/devotional time, integrating biblical teachings into classroom discussions.
  • Model Christ-like behavior and values through actions and interactions with students. Exemplary behavior and character consistent with Christian values, serving as a positive role model for students both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Facilitate opportunities for students to explore and deepen their faith.
  1. Parent Communication and Collaboration:
  • Establish open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians to support student learning and spiritual development.
  • Organize and participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school events.
  1. Professional Development:
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Stay updated on current instructional strategies and best practices in education and faith-based pedagogy.
  • Incorporate Bible stories, Christian values, and character education into daily lessons.
  1. Professional Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience and a supportive school community.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Attend work regularly and is punctual.
  • Serve at extra-curricular events as needed
